The annual Strawberry Music Festival, one of the biggest music festivals in China, will come back to Shenzhen next weekend. The event brings China’s best indie, punk, metal and electronic talents to the big stage with a smattering of visitors from abroad. Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand will grace the stage Dec. 9 night. Other musicians include Chengdu band Mr. Sea Turtle, Guangdong rapper Tizzy T, Taiwanese ballad musician Ara Kimbo and hot mainland pop singers Zeng Yike and Chen Li. Formed in 2002, Franz Ferdinand has been notable for being one of the most popular post-punk revival bands, garnering multiple U.K. top 20 hits. They have been nominated for several Grammy Awards and have received two Brit Awards, winning one for Best British Group, as well as one NME Award. Also known as Yico, Zeng was a finalist in the Hunan Satellite TV’s singing competition “Super Girl” in 2009. Later that year, her first album “Forever Road” was released.
