‘B-Team’ to get TV adaptations
    2018-12-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“THE B-Team,” a story idea by comic book legend Stan Lee, who recently died, will get South Korean and Chinese TV adaptations.

South Korea’s Studio Invictus will be the main production house behind the series about B-rated superheroes fighting against the mad scientists that create them. China’s Camsing International, the company that bought Lee’s POW! Entertainment, and JYP Pictures, a film and TV production subsidiary of leading K-pop agency JYP Entertainment, will also be involved in penning the Korean and Chinese scripts for “The B-Team.”

Kang Eun-kyung, the reputed South Korean TV screenwriter (2010 hit TV series “Bread, Love and Dreams”) and her creative group Plot Line will handle the script for both the Korean and Chinese versions. Though based on the same original story idea, each version will be individually developed to cater to its respective local market. A different set of actors is also due to be cast.

The creators see “B-Team” as a highly adaptable idea. “We believe we can eventually reach audiences in the U.S. through a Hollywood remake, as well as in other parts of Asia, including Japan and Southeast Asia,” said Kim Kyung-won, CEO of Invictus.

The South Korean TV series is expected to debut in 2020. The cast has yet to be announced.
