Life’s challenges fail to break couple with disabilities
    2018-12-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

XIN JUNHUI was born in the 1980s and was badly burnt when he was 2. His wife, Zhang Ying-ying, has been suffering from polio since she was 3, making it impossible for her to walk. Faced with constant adversity, the couple has never given up on life, and their optimism has delivered them a happy life, reported the Southern Metropolis Daily.

Zhang told the Daily that she could barely walk until she received several treatments at hospitals during junior high school. Zhang worked very hard on her studies and earned a bachelor’s degree. Following graduation, Zhang came to Shenzhen to work and met her man. Their similar experiences immediately brought the two souls together.

After graduating in 2011, Zhang was given the cold shoulder during job interviews due to her disability. She finally found a job at an e-commerce company, but it only paid her 800 yuan (US$116) a month. Xin also had a tough time in his job, since he was not confident due to not having an attractive, or even normal-looking, face. Fortunately, life has not taken away the couple’s happiness. They overcame their limitations and established their own caring center in Shenzhen, where they help thousands of physically challenged people find jobs. Xin also provides legal assistance to people at the center.

“In the past, most of our clients worked as massage therapists. Now, we can introduce them to some AI positions after providing training programs,” Zhang said.

The couple has two lovely children, who often attend charity activities with their parents and offer help to the disabled.

“There is no need to feel inferior to others. We all have our own differences,” Xin said.
