Young consultants advise on building child-friendly farms
    2018-12-05  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Young consultants from the children’s council of Guangming District advised on the building of child-friendly farms during their first meeting held at Dongzhou Primary School.

The council comprises 112 students from seven schools across the district, with 56 of them selected to be consultants and the other 56 selected to be observers. Drawing upon knowledge gathered from a visit to a farm under construction, young consultants sketched a new blueprint for child-friendly farms, taking into account infrastructure and services, such as setting up Do-It-Yourself dessert stands, opening a free vegetable field to visitors and collecting feedback on a quarterly basis from suggestion boxes. With an understanding of economics, charity and environmental protection, the students showed an impressive sense of social responsibility despite their young age.

Five motions proposed by the young consultants will be implemented into the construction of the child-friendly farms. With the help of the children’s council, the voices of 300,000 children from Guangming District are heard in the process of building a more child-friendly city.
