Firms punished for not properly disposing of garbage
    2018-12-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FIVE enterprises and three individuals have had penalties imposed on them for garbage classification violations, according to information that has been publicized online by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Management Bureau and the city’s public credit center, sznews.com reported.

The move aimed to urge the relevant enterprises to carry out garbage classification, collection, delivery and disposal in strict accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

The eight violations occurred in Longgang and Pingshan districts between 2017 and 2018, and included failure to publicize the time and place of classified household waste pick-up, and failure to classify household waste at designated collection points or containers in accordance with the regulations.

In particular, Shenzhen Hongxiang Surface Treatment Co. Ltd. was fined 50,000 yuan (US$7,281) for failing to classify household waste at designated collection points or containers.

The four other punished companies were the Shenzhen branch of Shanghai Reliance Environmental Services Co. Ltd., Shenzhen Giantchem Science and Technology Development Co. Ltd., Kin Wai Air Conditioning Engineering (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. and Guangzhou Yangding Property Management Development Co. Ltd.

The violations committed by these enterprises and responsible persons will be recorded in their credit records, according to the news report.

At a special event promoting garbage classification held at Lianhua Hill Park on Tuesday, the initial results of garbage classification law enforcement were presented to residents by the city’s urban management bureau.

According to statistics, Shenzhen has carried out a total of 2,923 law enforcement actions, issued 1,252 rectification notices and imposed penalties in 91 cases related to garbage classification so far this year.

The city’s urban management bureau will continue to publicize garbage classification violations in cooperation with the city’s public credit center, the bureau said.

It will also establish a coordination mechanism for the supervision and law enforcement of domestic garbage classification with other governmental departments.
