大猪蹄子
    2018-12-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Meaning:

The literal translation of this term is “big pig’s trotter.” This term is often used by women to complain about men who fail to keep their promises, fall in love with someone new or are not considerate towards women. Although it has existed for a while, the term caught on in August after being used in the popular TV show “Story of Yanxi Palace.” The comparison may have come from another term “male chauvinist pig.” However, unlike the latter, this term is a light-hearted complaint, not a harsh accusation.

Example:

A: 怎么最近没见到你男朋友来接你下班?

Zěnme zuìjìn méi jiàndào nǐ nánpéngyou lái jiē nǐ xiàbān?

Why has your boyfriend stopped picking you up after work?

B: 他每天都很忙。我们今晚看电影去,不提他了,男人都是大猪蹄子。

Tā měitiān dōu hěn máng。Wǒmen jīnwǎn kàn diànyǐng qù,bù tí tā le,nánrén dōushì dàzhūtízi。

He is busy everyday. Let’s go to a movie tonight and not talk about him. You can’t expect a man to always be considerate.
