UNDER the theme “CAPTURE,” the 2018 Global Youth Entrepreneurs Forum was held in Qianhai Vanke Enterprise Mansion Special Zone yesterday and attended by entrepreneurs from home and abroad looking to exchange startup stories and share their insights on seeking opportunities in the innovative entrepreneurship community of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Bay Area).

Inspiring ideas and experiences were shared by leading entrepreneurs, scientists and youth startups, covering topics of current interest like AI, fintech, smart city and life science.

KG Charles-Harries, founder of Quarrio Corp., plans to introduce an AI project to Qianhai, because the Bay Area has proved to be an ideal destination for investment, with its rich resources and favorable environment. He also encouraged the young entrepreneurs to shoulder their responsibilities and foster social change. “In the future, those who are able to solve major social issues and improve the world can be successful,” he said.

Derrick N. Ashong, from Ghana, shared his stories of building a dream through the integration of technology and culture. Inspired by his experience in the entertainment industry, Ashong set up a media platform named amip.it where the audience can interact directly with the author, and now he has come to the Bay Area with the good will of promoting the global conversation platform in local communities.

Leading entrepreneurs also enriched youth startups with business tips. “Those who seek opportunities in China should take a look at what it has gained from reform and opening up,” said Manuel C. Menendez III, who has been doing business in China for over four decades. He also stated that veteran entrepreneurs should help and encourage their young counterparts with their rich experiences and knowledge, while youth startups should take full advantage of professional networking to communicate with and learn from their senior counterparts.

Zhao Gang, vice director of Qianhai Authority, said that the forum unveiled the opportunities in the Bay Area to the world and promoted the exchange of ideas among entrepreneurs.
