‘Roma’ is the year’s best film, say Los Angeles film critics

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association has named “Roma,” Alfonso Cuarón’s elegant Spanish-language drama drawn from events in his childhood, the best film of 2018. Lee Chang-dong’s quietly gripping Korean-language film “Burning” was named runner-up.

“Roma” also won the top prize from the New York Film Critics Circle.

Grammy nominations announced

Nominations for the 61st Grammy Awards were announced on Friday.

Rap artists Kendrick Lamar and Drake received the most nominations with eight and seven, respectively. Singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile received six nominations.

This year the Grammy Awards ceremony is slated for February 10.

Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh to host 2019 Golden Globes

The 2019 Golden Globes seems to have finally found a host — or, rather, hosts. With only 32 days to go before NBC’s marquee awards telecast, Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh are set to take the Beverly Hilton stage on January 6.

Jessica Alba leads a Hollywood list that nobody wants to be on — actresses in the worst-reviewed movies of the past 20 years. The survey also names Mike Epps as topping the list for the men.
