Underage liability

A 16-YEAR-OLD teenager faces criminal responsibility for driving a motorcycle under the influence of alcohol (DUI).

The teenager, surnamed Zhang, was carrying two other teenagers in the early morning of Saturday and attempted to flee from police checks on Shennan Road East because they were not wearing helmets. The police check showed Zhang’s alcohol content had reached 106 mg per 100 ml.

According to the criminal law, DUI offenders above the age of 16 will be criminally charged.

Book donation

THE publishing houses in the country donated 50,000 books to Shenzhen’s schools, reading rooms and libraries at a book donation activity Wednesday, an event of Shenzhen Reading Month.

Shenzhen Reading Month was initiated in 2000 and has been held for 18 consecutive years. A total of 769 themed activities were held during the reading month in November this year.

Power supply

BLACKOUTS affecting households and businesses in Futian CBD were shorter than 2 minutes a year, Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau said at a news conference Wednesday. This demonstrates the high reliability of the power supply system the bureau has built, which can resume power supply automatically following intelligent diagnosis.
