Bans on rhinos trade

CHINA will continue to strictly ban the trade and use of rhinos, tigers and their byproducts, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (NFGA) said Thursday.

The agency’s spokesperson Huang Caiyi said the following “three strict bans” will continue to be enforced: strictly ban the importing and exporting of rhinos, tigers and their byproducts; strictly ban the sale, purchase, transport and delivery of rhinos, tigers and their byproducts; and strictly ban the use of rhino horns and tiger bones in medicine.

Man convicted

A 21-YEAR-OLD suspect was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder and other charges for his role in the 2014 murder of Xinran Ji, a Chinese graduate student at the University of Southern California.

The jurors handed down the verdict after about two hours of deliberation, convicting Alberto Ochoa of one count each of first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree robbery and attempted second-degree robbery.

Defaulters blacklisted

TO protect the legitimate interests of all employees and enhance the building of a social credit system, Wuhan city in Central China’s Hubei Province has decided to blacklist employers who fail to pay migrant workers, Wuhan Evening News reported Wednesday.
