Shenzhen Metro Volunteers Association was formed in June 2009. In 2011, about 4,000 volunteers served more than 41,000 people at 45 Metro stations during the 26th Universiade, which was held in the city. The number of Metro volunteers grew to 13,000 in 2018 and a daily average of 820 volunteers provide services at 101 Metro stations. The association has become an integral part of the city’s volunteer cause.
