Cao Zhen caozhen0806@126.com An exhibition reviewing overseas Chinese people’s contributions to China’s reform and opening up over the past four decades opened at He Xiangning Art Museum on Thursday. The exhibition showcases 133 old photos of overseas Chinese people’s entrepreneurship, philanthropy and support for China’s economic development and cultural exchanges over the past 40 years. It also reviews China’s policies on overseas Chinese affairs, which have strengthened the connections between overseas compatriots and their motherland. According to the exhibition profile, more than 60 million overseas Chinese in 200 countries and regions are the pioneers, participants and contributors of China’s reform and opening up. They have not only invested in companies on the Chinese mainland but also donated hundreds of billions of yuan to domestic charity projects over the past 40 years. They have not only contributed to China’s economic, scientific and technological development but also to public welfare and disaster relief. After the Shenzhen exhibition, the photos will be exhibited in Shantou, an eastern Guangdong city where millions of overseas Chinese have roots.
