TIME Museum, an exhibition themed around the country’s 40 years of reform and opening up, opened Tuesday in Nanshan District on its tour of China.
In the week between Tuesday and Dec. 25, visitors can access the app of the People’s Daily, the organizer of the exhibition, to apply for tickets for free admission.
The exhibition is centered around five themes that mainly focus on the changes and achievements of Shenzhen over the past four decades.
The exhibition re-enacts the life of pioneers that came to Shenzhen during the initial stage of reform and opening up, the life of ordinary families in the 1990s. The Time Train used the green-carriage train in the 1980s and 1990s as the prototype to carry on the dreams of early pioneers to Shenzhen.
The acoustic hall attracts visitors’ attention with its acoustic map on display. By pressing different areas on the map, visitors can hear different sounds representing the areas such as roaring of machines at 3 a.m. in Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, the whistling of ferry at 8:10 a.m. at Nan’ao Ferry Port and bustling at 3 p.m. at Maoye Department Store. Old photos reflecting the changes of life of ordinary people also show the changes and achievements of Shenzhen with audio and video devices.
At the “post office,” visitors can write Time Postcards for their expectations for the future and enjoy an animation of 40-year achievements by scanning the 40 illustrations printed on the Reform and Opening-up Wall.
Between Saturday and Monday, the organizer will stage music shows between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the outdoor square of the exhibition hall. Some well-known musicians will join the neighborhood to celebrate the 40-year achievements in reform and opening up. (Han Ximin)
