THE first phase of the Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen Campus will be put into use in June 2020. The university currently has set up 10 colleges and plans to establish 20 colleges and departments in the future, sznews.com reported Saturday. Luo Jun, president of Sun Yat-sen University, said that with the strong support of the Ministry of Education and the local government, the university has been striving to build a world-class university with Chinese characteristics and persisting in reform and innovation in recent years. The university now has three campuses with different orientations and 10 affiliated hospitals. The Shenzhen Campus emphasizes medical science and new engineering and aims to serve the country’s major strategies and cultivate young elites from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. Located in Guangming District, the Shenzhen Campus has a total floor area of 2.3 million square meters. Eight colleges have already started student enrollment and 4,204 students are enrolled at present. Two other colleges are also planning to open student enrollment. In the future, the number of colleges and departments at the Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen Campus will reach 20 and there will be 20,000 students at the school. (Zhang Yu) |
