Schools may be allowed to build teachers’dormitories
    2018-12-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau recently released a new guidance on the quality of construction and design of primary and middle schools on its official website to strengthen the construction and planning of primary and middle schools, according to sznews.com.

The new guidance sets rules for various items, including campus design, land usage rate, underground car parking, activity space, teaching facilities, sports fields, teacher dormitories and public facilities. One regulation worth special attention is that schools with the appropriate conditions can build a dormitory for its teachers and staff.

Teachers are a significant part of social and economic development, the document said. As a result, a livelihood guarantee for teachers is key to the future of education in Shenzhen. In order to attract more high-quality teachers, the guidance allows schools to build housing for teachers without influencing current teaching resources and activities.

Rules on the air quality of recently renovated and reconstructed rooms and the quality of running tracks were also clarified in the regulation, addressing some major concerns of parents. (Wang Jingli)
