National Geographic exhibition highlights incredible scenery
    2018-12-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Dive into the depths of the oceans, roam faraway lands, climb to the earth’s highest summits and walk in the footsteps of National Geographic explorers, photographers, scientists and journalists whose discoveries have shaped our understanding of the world.

“A New Age of Exploration: Since 1888” is a grand visual feast that celebrates modern exploration and takes visitors back in time to encounter some of the most fascinating and iconic moments in the National Geographic Society’s 130-year history.

The displays include stunning iconic National Geographic magazine covers; “Herald Island, Chukchi Sea, Arctic Ocean,” the first outdoor photograph published in the magazine in 1890; “Florida Keys,” the first underwater color photo; as well as Jane Goodall’s and Norah Urquhart’s encounters with a chimpanzee and monarch butterflies. The exhibition also highlights some of the world’s best photographers, such as Steve McCurry, well known for his “Afghan girl.”

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the National Geographic Society is one of the largest nonprofit scientific and educational organizations in the world.
