Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the largest technology convention in the world, is taking place in Las Vegas, the United States, showcasing a mix of aspiring tech companies’ innovations and a small handful of gems from established names. CES is one of the biggest dates in the tech industry calendar and is expected to draw more than 180,000 visitors hoping for a chance to see the kind of tech likely to dominate the coming year’s agenda. UrgoNight

UrgoNight, a sleep-tracking headset by French startup* Urgo Group, connects to an app and trains your brain into developing wave patterns for healthier sleep. The team say that sustainable results take three months to achieve.

Dreamlight

Dreamlight uses light and sound so you fall asleep faster and wake up with more energy. The Dreamlight is a heavily padded and contoured* strip that wraps around your head and attaches with velcro*. The mask claims to ease jet lag* and remove puffiness*. There is also a heating mask which is meant to simulate* a person stroking your face.

Spectra X

The Spectra X, by Walnutt Technologies, is a shareable electric skateboard which focuses on person-to-person sharing. Similar to Airbnb, owners of the skateboard can rent out the right of use to people who are interested in riding.

The Mookkie

The US$190 Mookkie cat bowl uses visual recognition and will only open up to a specific cat’s face, preventing other pets from eating the food. The bowl connects to a local network over Wi-Fi and will send pet owners a notification via the mobile app to alert them that their pet is about to eat.

BreadBot

The Wilkinson Baking Co. unveiled their BreadBot. The automated device starts with dry ingredients* and bakes several different types of bread, including white, whole wheat, sourdough and honey oat. The bread requires fewer preservatives* since it’s made on the spot.

Mui Calm

Japanese company Mui Calm lets users control devices such as home lighting and thermostats* via touch and voice command. The device costs US$600. It lets users to check the news and weather and send and receive messages by showing text on the wooden slat.

Numi 2.0 Intelligent Toilet

Kohler company stole the CES show with an intelligent toilet with built-in surround sound speakers, ambient* mood lighting and Amazon Alexa voice controls. The toilet has personalized* cleansing and drier functions and comes with a promise of “exceptional water efficiency.”

Y-Brush

This US$128 gadget cleans your teeth in just 10 seconds. The battery-operated tray comes in four sizes. It fits over the teeth and, as it vibrates*, fine nylon bristles clean them, using normal toothpaste. After five seconds on the top, the tray is flipped over for five seconds on the bottom.

Tetra

A portable dishwasher the size of a cardboard box and weight of a small suitcase, the US$400 gadget washes the dishes using just four liters of water. With its own reservoir*, it can be used anywhere that has an electrical socket.

3DRudder

Most VR* games let players use hand controllers to navigate around the virtual world. 3DRudder has come up with a way to allow players to move about using a foot motion controller, freeing up hand controllers for other tasks. The controller comes in the form of a tilting disc, which users can push with their feet in the desired direction when seated.

Aquio

Among some of the more unusual gadgets on show were a water bottle with a built-in Bluetooth speaker, and a refrigerator that detects when you are out of beer and orders more.

Ovis Suitcase

For those who travel often, on display was the Ovis Suitcase which automatically* follows the owner around and even dodges* passers-by.

Elvie

British company Elvie displayed a breast pump that can be worn in a bra under normal clothes and operates with minimal sound so mothers can go about their normal jobs and routines.

Foldimate

Foldimate is a new device that folds your clothes automatically. The machine costs US$16,000, analyzes each clothing item and figure out the best way to fold it using AI*.(SD-Agencies)
