Harvard professor Preston Scott Cohen, Guan Shanyue Art Museum director Chen Xiangbo, architects Jiang Ping and Ou Qigao and Shenzhen University master’s program supervisor Liang Shiran will give a talk at Artist Is Present in OCT-LOFT.

Cohen is a professor of architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the founder and design principle of Preston Scott Cohen, Inc. He is the author of “Contested Symmetries” and numerous theoretical and historical essays on architecture. He was awarded with many architecture prizes. His works have been collected by numerous art organizations.

Chen is also the vice chairman of the Chinese Elaborate Style Painting Association, tutor and supervisor of master’s degree students at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and president of Shenzhen Artists Association. More than 60 of his paintings have been collected by art organizations, such as China Art Museum.

Jiang is the founding principal of EID Architecture, a leading architecture and urban design firm with studios in both Shanghai and Hong Kong. He has worked extensively in United States, Europe and Asia, leading the practice and delivering a variety of challenging architecture projects. Prior to founding EID Architecture, Jiang was design leader for some renowned international firms. He was a principal partner at MAD from 2009 to 2011 and was a studio head with SOM’s Chicago office. He has received numerous design awards and his works have been featured in international journals, such as Domus, MARK/FRAME, The Plan, A+U and World Architecture.

Ou is a member of Singapore Institute of Planners. Prior to founding Shanghai Jieyu Architecture, Ou was vice president of CCDI Group. He also worked as chief architect for Shanghai Junyuan Architecture previously. He has received numerous design awards and his works have been published in international journals.

Liang graduated from Beijing Forestry University with a doctorate degree in 2012. He has won national, provincial and city awards in the field of landscape architecture. Recently Liang has become the supervisor for master programs in Art & Design College of Shenzhen University.
