Driver detained for endangering officer
    2019-01-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A DUMP truck driver was detained for resisting police with violence after he trapped the arm of a traffic police officer in the vehicle’s window and drove for several kilometers in Bao’an District.

During an inspection at the intersection of Xinsha Road and Bao’an Boulevard in Shajing Subdistrict on Jan. 6, the police officer stepped on the footplate of the dump truck and demanded the driver show him his driver’s license. But the driver, surnamed Xia, suddenly closed the window and drove forward when the traffic light turned green, putting the officer in a dangerous situation, according to a press release from the traffic police authority.

The police officer had to hold firmly onto the window with his body outside the cabin.

“Along the way, the officer demanded Xia stop the vehicle for an inspection, but Xia refused, saying that he had received maximum penalty points. When the truck arrived in the Wanfeng Community, Xia exited the truck and fled as he realized he couldn’t get rid of the officer,” the police release said. Luckily, the officer wasn’t injured.

Police contacted the dump truck company. Xia later returned to the scene for questioning.
