An example of the future of schools, the Affiliated Primary School of Longhua Educational Science Institute showcased its intelligent side to citizens at the Longhua Educational Achievements Exhibition on January 16.

Recently, the Longhua Education Bureau published an “education plus big data plus artificial intelligence (AI)” solution targeting the education industry. The future school will become a smart entity empowered by science and technology such as big data and AI.

In the field of basic education, the application of four core technologies, namely AI, big data, biological recognition and non-sensory assessment, will help upgrade different campus scenarios and form a smart education entity.

The Affiliated Primary School of the Longhua Educational Science Institute is one of the schools carrying out the Longteng Project of the Longhua Education Bureau. Since its planning in September last year, the school has equipped 23 AI channels.

The channel is based on facial and fingerprint recognition technologies. Combined with Tencent smart campus technology, attendance management software and the intelligent access control system, it will assume an array of functions including smart attendance management, identity recognition, visitor registration, and daily data management and statistics.

The smart channel not only recognizes human faces, but also offers weather information and sends greetings and blessings during festivals.

“We hope that parents will be informed in a timely manner whenever their kids walk through the smart channel. To make the users happy to receive the notifications, the channel not only recognizes human faces, but also their expressions. It can also send greetings in different periods of time. The channel is not only useful but also interesting,” said a teacher surnamed Zhang of the school’s information center.
