130,000 cars to pass over Humen Bridge per day during travel rush
    2019-01-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ACCORDING to the Guangdong traffic authority, 131,000 cars are expected to pass over Humen Bridge per day during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush, up 1.5 percent year on year, and the number will peak at 160,000 on Feb. 10, reported the Commercial Daily yesterday.

It’s estimated that the car flow will surge during three periods — between Jan. 21 and 30, when migrant workers are on their way back to their hometowns, between Feb. 8 and 11, when the Spring Festival holiday ends and people start returning to the cities where they work, and after Feb. 16, when the winter holiday for students ends.

To ensure smooth car trips during the rush, Guangdong Humen Bridge Co. Ltd. and the traffic police have decided to shut down the entrance to the Weiyuan toll station of the bridge from 8:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day between Jan. 28 and Feb. 1. Drivers traveling to Guangzhoug, Zhuhai or Shenzhen will need to enter the bridge through the toll station of Yanjing Expressway, the Taiping Overpass entrance, or by taking a ferry to those cities from Humen.

The traffic control will also be applied to the Nansha toll station, shutting it down completely between Feb. 3 and 11, and from 2 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day between Feb. 11 and 20, so drivers will need to enter the bridge from the Zhitingjiao toll station. (SD News)
