Students from Jingpeng Primary School receive national patents
    2019-01-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Recently, four grade 5 students from Jingpeng primary school received 10-year patents for utility models approved by the National Intellectual Property Administration.

Inventions recognized as national patents mainly focus on daily convenience. Zheng Danwei enables weather forecasting on a traffic light through a few transformations; Bao Yudi designed a smart light that can change its brightness automatically while being reversed; Huang Wencheng made an automatic page-turning device for books, which can also increase page brightness; He Qizheng designed a multi-functional stationary box with a removable sketch pad. Students can take notes on the pad with magnetic chalks.

Tan Zhi, director of the moral education department of Jingpeng Primary School, said that the school has set up courses such as 3D printing, chemical experimentation, physics, electrotechnics, unpiloted cars and VEX robots, aiming to foster creativity in students, which resulted in a large number of prize winners in scientific contests. However, it’s the first time for students in Jingpeng Primary School to receive national patents. “Our students have started applying for the patents since December 2017, and finally their work paid off. Hopefully more and more students can have their ideas applied to daily practice. That’s why our school has long been focusing on fostering young inventors,” he said.
