Intelligent Baguang

THE overall plan of Intelligent Baguang has passed experts’ appraisal.

The intelligent system is comprised of a service system, supporting system and new-generation information infrastructure.

Vertical greenery

THE city will offer subsidies of 150 yuan (US$22) to 300 yuan per square meters to encourage the public and institutions to plant greeneries at rooftops, exterior walls, bridges and concrete slopes, according to a plan released by the city’s urban management bureau.

Border crossing

SHENZHEN checkpoints handled a total of 4.71 million travelers crossing the border during the Spring Festival holiday, according to sources from the Shenzhen General Station for Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection.

On Feb. 6, the number of travelers crossing the border reached 857,000, the highest of the holiday.

Hottest holiday

THE average temperature during the Spring Festival holiday was 21 degrees Celsius, the hottest holiday in the city’s meteorological history since 1953.

On the eve of the Chinese New Year, temperatures reached 28.1 degrees Celsius, the second-highest temperature of any Spring Festival holiday. The highest holiday temperature was 29 degrees Celsius recorded in 1953.

The post-festival temperature dropped to 14-16 degrees Celsius due to the cold air that started to affect the city yesterday. The temperature will rise slightly starting from today.

The city’s meteorological observatory estimates two rounds of cold air will affect the city Feb. 20 and 28.
