Thieves caught

TWO thieves who spent the Spring Festival holiday at their hometown in Shaoyang, Hunan Province were caught by Longgang police.

After stealing 2,000 steel pipes and parts worth 12,000 yuan (US$1,771) Jan. 25, the two thieves drove home for the holiday.

On Sunday, officers from Fucheng Police Station arrested the two suspects with the help of local police. They had sold the steel pipes and parts for thousands of yuan to a scrap collection station in Dongguan after the theft.

Bone, tendon injuries

UP to 2,500 people sought treatment for injuries to their bones or tendons at Shenzhen Pingle Orthopedic Hospital from Feb. 4, the eve of the Chinese New Year, to Sunday.

Most of them suffered fractures due to accidental falls, doctors at the hospital said.

Some of the patients saw doctors at the hospital because of lumbar and cervical spine strains after sitting in a vehicle for long periods of time.
