Young SZ journalists win national prizes
    2019-02-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Two primary school students named Shi Zimo and Zhang Yanru from the experimental school of the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, China Academy of Science entered the final round of the 2018 National Bilingual Young Journalists Contest and won the second prize on January 24 and 25 at Beijing National Stadium.

The final contest was composed of two sections, namely English public speaking and a mock interview, during which young journalists from primary and middle schools across the country envisioned the forthcoming 2020 Olympics and Paralympics Winter Games and deepened their understanding of the sporting events in the games. Through showcasing their bilingual talent and passion for winter sports, the young journalists exemplified their roles as messengers delivering the culture and stories of the 2020 Winter Olympic Games to their communities and across the world.

The contest was co-hosted by the All-China Journalists Association, the Media and Communication of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and Radio Beijing Corporation, covering about schools across the country. A total of about 50,000 contestants were categorized into three groups according to their age, and after four rounds of regional eliminations, 150 students had qualified for the final round held in Beijing.
