    2019-02-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shenzhen Conservatory of Music will be set up to cultivate music talents, according to Vice Mayor Wang Lixin, who made the remarks during a meeting with the deputy chancellor of Austria’s Mozarteum University Salzburg on Tuesday, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

Wang met with Hannfried Lucke, deputy chancellor of Mozarteum University Salzburg, at the Civic Center on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Wang, the city government planned to establish a conservatory of music on the basis of relevant research by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, (CUHK Shenzhen).

The conservatory will have a comprehensive education system covering bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees, and share standards and academic quality with CUHK Shenzhen, according to the city’s education bureau and the culture, radio & TV, tourism and sports commission which have been in charge of the preparation of the setup of the music college.

The conservatory is expected to enroll 200 undergraduates, 30 graduates and 10 doctorates in its early stage and will expand the scale to 1,000 students later according to its development, the report said.

During the meeting, Wang called for closer exchanges between Shenzhen and Austria in various fields, the report said. (Wang Jingli)
