Bus on fire

A BUS running on Jihe Expressway was engulfed in flames Friday evening and burned down to the frame in minutes.

Luckily, there were no passengers on the bus when the incident occurred at around 6 p.m. The bus was on its way back to the company after dropping off passengers. On the way, one of its tires burst, and when the driver got out of the bus to check, the fire suddenly ignited. The driver tried to extinguish the fire but failed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Illegal car market

THE illegal structure of a second-hand car market occupying 23,000 square meters in Xili, Nanshan District, has been dismantled.

The market housed more than 180 car dealerships in 23 temporary steel structures and more than 1,000 second-hand cars. It was built on a land lot reserved for the government.

Port throughput

THE container throughput of Shenzhen Port reached 2.41 million TEUs in January, an increase of 1.75 percent over January last year.

Yantian Port handled 1.27 million TEUs, accounting for 52.93 percent of the total, according to official statistics.
