Mom gives birth naturally to septuplets
    2019-02-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A NEW mom is in good health after giving birth to SEPTUPLETS in an incredible natural birth, with all the children reportedly in perfect condition and doing well.

The startling birth occurred at a hospital in the Diyali Province of eastern Iraq in what is believed to be the first septuplet birth in the country.

Spokesman for the local health department Firas Al Izzawi said in a statement that the unnamed 25-year-old mom had a natural birth and was perfectly healthy after the procedure.

The seven newborns, six girls and one boy, are said to be in good health after receiving medical checkups and images show four of the tiny babies lying in a bed together.

Other images show two of the tots lying together shortly after the remarkable birth, which local media reported is the first case of septuplets being born in Iraq.

Last year a mother at the Saint George University Hospital in Lebanon gave birth to sextuplets, three girls and three boys, all of whom survived the birth.

The children’s father Youssef Fadl said that he and his wife had not been considering having more children and they now have 10 youngsters to look after.

The world’s first set of surviving septuplets were the McCaughey septuplets born to Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey in Des Moines, Iowa, the United States, in 1997.

After the McCaughey babies were born nine weeks prematurely, joining their big sister, Mikayla Marie, news crew swarmed their modest one-floor home.

Amid the media frenzy, U.S. President Bill Clinton personally called the family to congratulate the family, while Oprah Winfrey welcomed them on her show and companies scrambled to help the couple.

Among the donations, they received a 5,500-square-foot (510-square-meter) home, a van, a year’s worth of Kraft’s macaroni and cheese, nappies for the first two years and full college scholarships for any state university in Iowa. During the early months, the septuplets drank 42 bottles a day and went through 52 diapers.(SD-Agencies)
