SZ to launch smart parking platform
    2019-02-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SMART city construction has accounted for a considerable share of Shenzhen’s government-invested projects this year, with projects in the fields of smart parking, smart campus, smart rental housing and digital government on top of the agenda, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Although the number of parking lots in Shenzhen has increased by 2.6 times from 2008 to 2018, and the number of parking spaces in commercial parking lots has increased to 1.42 million, the supply is far from sufficient to meet the demand of the more than 3 million vehicles in Shenzhen.

The smart parking platform to be launched this March aims to solve the parking conundrum. By building a citywide intelligent parking platform, the project will effectively improve the utilization rate of parking resources.

It will also provide information and support for car parking, traffic planning and traffic law enforcement through parking data acquisition and processing, while at the same time improving the parking experience and promoting the industrialization of car parking.

According to the plan, the first phase of the project invests more than 40 million yuan (US$5.9 million) with a construction period lasting until the end of 2022.

The city will invest 25 million yuan this year to complete the main body of development and the launch of the platform. In the future, residents will be able to use mobile phones to inquire about parking information in various areas, and drive directly to the parking lot through reservation, navigation and other services.

This year, Shenzhen plans to invest more than 430 million yuan in improving the unified housing rental transaction platform that was built last year and increasing housing resources on the platform.

The system will also share data with relevant government departments and integrate such functions as residence permits, housing subsidy applications and the withdrawal of housing provident funds.

Another smart project is the construction of a public housing information platform. Total investment for the project will reach 38 million yuan, with a construction period of two years.

After completion, it will cover all public housing businesses, form a comprehensive operation and supervision system of public housing, from construction and financing to distribution, management and integrated services.

The city is also expediting the development of a digital government. For instance, nearly 30 million yuan will be invested in the optimization and upgrade of the municipal grass-roots public service platform.

Additionally, the city will invest more than 13 million yuan in the construction of a fully automated and comprehensive platform to facilitate the services of the transportation bureau.

The city will also launch a national key science and technology infrastructure project for future network testing, in which Shenzhen will invest 237 million yuan and the State will allocate 105 million yuan.

The project is a large-scale universal testing facility for future networks that integrates the existing networks, providing flexible and diverse testing services for various users.
