Shenzhen Foreign Language School (SFLS) announced on Saturday that 126 students at the school’s Academy of Foreign Languages, who had been recommended for direct admission to universities, received 289 pre-admission notices from China’s top universities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Foreign Studies University and Shanghai International Studies University. The number hit a historic high.

Among the 126 students, seven got the pre-admission offers from Peking University, two from Tsinghua University, four from Zhejiang University, three from Shanghai Jiaotong University, four from Fudan University, four from Renmin University of China, four from Nanjing University, 40 from Beijing Foreign Studies University, 34 from Shanghai International Studies University, and 31 from South China University of Technology.

The school says that the 134 students in the Class of 2019 from the school’s Academy of Foreign Languages, who are the first batch of graduates after the school’s implementation of curriculum reform, have the right to choose their ideal universities to be recommended for admission.

According to previous reports, students in the Class of 2019 at the school’s Academy of International Studies also received a total of 119 pre-admission offers from the world’s prestigious universities. Among them, three are pre-admitted to Chicago University, one to Oxford University and one was directly admitted to a U.S. university whose major of computer science ranks top in the U.S.

As one of the first batches of 13 foreign languages schools in China that are qualified to recommend students to key universities, SFLS ranks No. 1 in Guangdong Province in terms of the number of recommended students for direct admission.

In recent years the school has seen a total of 2,430 students being directly admitted to top universities, including 109 students who were admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking University.
