City mulls regulations on data protection
    2019-03-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ENTERPRISES with business in fields including finance, telecom, logistics, delivery, property management and housing brokerage are required to establish an information security system to protect their customers’ privacy and personal information, according to a revised draft on the city’s public security regulations that is seeking public opinions until March 20.

Under the regulations, it will be illegal for the businesses to trade the personal information of their customers.

Logistics and delivery enterprises should check senders’ ID information to make sure they use true identities for the delivery. Packages should go through a security check before delivery. Otherwise, enterprises have the right to decline service, according to the rules.

Financial institutions and telecom enterprises should put real-name registration into practice.

The regulations stipulate that a risk assessment mechanism be built to conduct comprehensive analyses for major policy decisions and provide suggestions regarding risk protection and control.

Protection should be strengthened in public places such as schools, hospitals, parks, shopping malls, the airport, bus stations, checkpoints and venues for large activities.
