Koala and 2 horses become friends
    2019-03-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE adorable moment a koala made friends with two horses on an Aussie farm has been caught on camera.

A video of the unlikely meeting shows the curious koala lazing in a paddock in Coomera, Queensland, before receiving a warm welcome from the horses Saturday morning.

While the exact reason why the koala ended up in the paddock remains unclear, the furry critter showed no signs of distress when he was approached by the first horse.

Babysitter Alma Mendo, 35, who feared for the koala’s safety, captured the video of the three animals getting acquainted with each other.

In the video, the curious horse appears to give the little koala a sniff and a gentle nudge as if almost encouraging him to make his way back to safety and shelter.

But the koala seems content just sitting and interacting with the palomino horse, before a second bay horse also comes over to greet the intruder.

Mendo, originally from Mexico but now based in Brisbane, said, “At first I was worried when the horse got close that he might hurt him, but they seemed so friendly.

“The horse was definitely thinking “who is this little guy in our backyard?’”

The region’s koala population has recently taken a huge blow due to a Queensland government bid to relocate the Aussie icon’s habitat to make way for urban developments.

The loss of trees makes the rare encounter all the more remarkable. (SD-Agencies)
