Mushroom poisoning

TWO men were poisoned, one of whom required medical treatment for serious liver damage, after eating a mushroom they had picked in Luotian Park in Bao’an District, according to a source from the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Doctors at Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital said the mushroom they ate was a highly poisonous variety called Amanita Verna, which is commonly seen in GuangdongProvince. Ingesting six grams of the toxins in the mushroom could be fatal.

Illegal structures

AUTHORITIES in Dapeng New Area demolished 10 illegal structures covering an area of 2,000 square meters recently.

The illegal structures had been built on the uninhabited LaishizhouIsland, off Xichong beach.

The dismantlement work took three days.

Beds for elderly

SHENZHEN will add more than 1,000 beds to the city’s nursing homes this year, according to a meeting held by the municipal civil affairs bureau.

The city will also push forward the establishment of a long-term nursing insurance system with Shenzhen’s characteristics, according to bureau officials.
