New Metro lines

SIX new Metro lines and two extensions, running a total of 127 kilometers, will be put into use by the end of 2020, sources from the Shenzhen rail construction commanding office said.

Among them, the extensions of Line 5 and Line 9 are scheduled to start operation this year.

The extension of Line 5 links Qianhaiwan Station with Chiwan Station, an interchange station with Line 2. It runs 7.7 kilometers and has seven stations.

The westward extension of Line 9 starts at Hongshuwan South Station and ends at Qianwan Station. It runs 10.8 kilometers and has 10 stations.

Coral smuggling

SHENZHEN Bay Customs seized a man illegally carrying 1.56 kg of live corals to enter the city recently. Live corals have been listed as endangered species by world organizations.

The man, who wasn’t identified, has been handed over to the anti-smuggling department for investigation.

Expressway lanes

THE leftmost lane in either direction on the Shenzhen section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway will be closed for one month starting tomorrow for lighting renovation projects.

People driving to the Shenzhen airport, Guangzhou or Huanggang Checkpoint are advised to plan their trips in advance. Those going to the Shenzhen airport are advised to take the Metro.

The section runs from Hubeishan Tunnel near the Shenzhen airport in Bao’an to Huanggang Checkpoint.

SF fleet

THE seventh B767-300 all-cargo plane of SF Express arrived at the Shenzhen airport in Bao’an District on Tuesday, bringing the company’s fleet to 53 aircraft.

SF Express is a Shenzhen-based cargo service provider.
