Two soccer players selected to national U19 team
    2019-03-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TWO soccer players from Bao’an Sports School, Chen Lina and Tan Qing, were selected to the China women’s national U19 soccer team, according to the Bao’an Daily.

The only two players selected from Guangdong Province for the third phase of training this year, Chen and Tan have traveled to Ulsan, South Korea, for the program and will stay there until April 7.

Xu lei, a coach from Bao’an Sports School who helped train the Bao’an women’s soccer team to win the first prize at the Games of Guangdong Province in 2015, said that the two girls were very little when they came to the school.

“Tan Qing is tall and has good traits in every aspect. At that time, I thought she would have a promising future, while Chen Lina has sophisticated foot skills and is aggressive during competitions. She is a very special athlete,” said Xu.

Tan and Chen became members of the provincial women’s soccer team in 2015 and have had great results in many games. In 2017, they represented Guangdong Province to win the second prize in the national game, achieving the best result for Guangdong in the national game since 2009, according the report.

“We have cultivated many players for the provincial team, but many of them decided to stop their careers and go to universities,” said Xu, adding that she believes these two girls will carry on.

Bao’an District emphasizes soccer development and has provided sufficient support. The vice principal of Bao’an Sports School said he had confidence in the Bao’an women’s soccer team. (Wang Jingli)
