Problematic maps

SHENZHEN Customs retrieved more than 260,000 problematic maps from the Netherlands in January and detained four suspects in connection with illegally exporting the problematic maps.

Last September, customs found more than 41,000 maps suspected of infringing on China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during an inspection. A company in Dongguan was planning to print 500,000 such maps and more than 300,000 had been printed.

Of the 300,000 maps, more than 260,000 had been exported to the Netherlands, via Hong Kong.

Drugs in mouth

A MAN was caught holding a plastic bag containing 1.04 grams of methamphetamine in his mouth while crossing the border at Futian Checkpoint on March 3.

Without luggage, the man looked nervous as he entered Shenzhen through Futian Checkpoint. During questioning, officers found the man was attempting to swallow something and took action to stop him.

The case has been handed over to the anti-smuggling department for further investigation.
