Fruit juice injection

A WOMAN from Central China’s Hunan Province has been receiving emergency treatment at an ICU for five days after injecting herself with mixed fruit juice in an effort to keep healthy, Hangzhou Daily reported.

The woman surnamed Zeng from Chenzhou City, put 20 kinds of fruit into a juicer and prepared an intravenous infusion by herself on a whim after simple filtration at home Feb. 22. She thought fresh fruit was rich in nutrients and could certainly benefit her body, the report said.

Zeng felt itchy and her body temperature rose after the injection. Her husband sent her to the hospital after detecting the strange situation.

She was diagnosed with a severe systemic infection and coagulation disorders. She was finally out of danger and transmitted to the general ward after five days of emergency treatment.

Doctors warned that random injections might cause liver and kidney damage and could even be life-threatening.

Filipinos deported

FOUR Filipinos who entered China on a group visitor visa but left the tour group to overstay have been sentenced to deportation as well as imprisonment, detention, and fined up to 3,000 yuan (US$447), the Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People’s Court said Tuesday.

The four women, whose names were not released by the court, wanted to stay in China to make money by working as maids.
