Road use to be rationed in Huidong County
    2019-03-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ROAD use in tourist areas of Huidong County in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, including scenic spots in Xunliao, Pinghai and Gangkou townships, will be rationed from April 5 to Dec. 31, 2019, to relieve the traffic burden and improve traffic capabilities, according to Huidong Public Security Bureau.

The road sections include Chisha Expressway Exit-Shazuiwei section and other roads in the restriction area.

This decision was formulated out of consideration of the number of cars traveling to tourist areas in Huidong, which hikes up to 40,000 per day during holidays, especially the summer holiday, according to the authority.

The rule stipulates that cars with license plates registered outside of Huizhou and less than seven seats will be subject to an odd-even license plate number traffic restriction, meaning vehicles will be banned from the roads on alternate days, based on the last digit of their license plate numbers during statutory holidays such as Qingming Festival, May Day and the National Day, and on weekends between July 1 and Aug. 31.

Trucks over 1.75 tons, and carrier vehicles transporting hazardous chemicals, will be restricted from the road with the same policy between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. during the holidays mentioned above and on weekends between July 1 and Aug. 31 in all the jurisdictions under Xunliao, Pinghai and Gangkou townships.

Vehicles with license plates registered in Huizhou, Hong Kong or Macao, and military vehicles, police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, buses and cars used for administration, cars of embassies and consulates, and other cars with permits from authorities will not be affected by the regulation.

Violators of the rule will be fined 200 yuan (US$29.9) and have three penalty points added to their driving licenses, according to the rule.
