14-yr jail sentence

LU WEI, former deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, was handed a 14-year jail term plus a fine of 3 million yuan (US4450,000) for taking bribes, the Ningbo Municipal Intermediate People’s Court ruled yesterday.

A TOTAL of 1,578 people died of infectious diseases in China in February 2019, according to the National Health Commission (NHC) on Monday.

There were 715,176 cases of infectious diseases reported last month, said the NHC, citing statistics from its disease prevention and control bureau.
