Gachapons, art exhibition at Eslite Spectrum SZ
    2019-04-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A 3-meter-high capsule-vending machine and 320 normal-sized vending machines are now waiting for you to try your luck as Eslite Spectrum Shenzhen is holding a gachapon event on its fourth floor until May 5.

The term, “gashapon” or “gachapon,” refers to a variety of vending machine-dispensed capsule toys popular in Japan and elsewhere. The gachapon toys at the Shenzhen event are licensed from popular characters in Marvel, Disney and Japanese manga. Toys will be given randomly out of a machine.

Each gachapon costs between 20 yuan and 40 yuan and players should buy tokens at the store before using the machines.

Meanwhile, shoppers who spend 288 yuan or more at the book and lifestyle store can join a lucky draw for prizes including a brooch, a 100-yuan coupon, a goody bag, a notebook or a wine cabinet.

Dates: Until May 5

Young Chinese artist Wang Xiaoshuang is exhibiting his oil paintings on city landscape on the third floor of the store. Born in 1991, Wang graduated from the oil painting department of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts. He was one of the outstanding Young Chinese Artists nominated to take part in the exhibition “From the East to the West” at the Livingston Art Exchange Center and “New Youth: Global Popularization Program of Contemporary Art” in the United States. His works have also been exhibited in Chinese galleries and institutions including the Ningbo Contemporary Art Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum and the China Art Palace in Shanghai.

Dates: Until May 2

Venue: Eslite Spectrum Shenzhen, MixC World, Nanshan District (南山区深圳万象天地诚品生活深圳)

Metro: Line 1 to Hi-tech Park Station (高新站), Exit A
