EXPATS who want to find a job can try their luck at a job fair in Hall 4 of the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center during the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) on Sunday.

The fair, an event at the two-day CIEP that ends Monday, serves as an exchange platform for foreigners working in China and their potential employers.

More than 40 enterprises, half of which are from Shenzhen, Guangzhou and other cities in the Pearl River Delta region, will offer vacancies in the pharmacy, telecommunications, electronics, software, manufacturing and education fields, according to a phone interview Thursday with Liang Ran, the manager responsible for the job fair.

The job fair, initiated in 2005, has been organized more than 50 times in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Chengdu and Shenzhen, and has been a major project for attracting foreign talents over the past decade.

The fair is one of five fairs to be held in the two days, which will offer a total of around 30,000 vacancies to attract talents from different groups, such as returned overseas Chinese students, soon-to-be graduates, and jobseekers from enterprises and public institutions, said the organizer, the Shenzhen Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, on Thursday. More than 1,500 enterprises will participate in the fairs.

In the fair for returned overseas Chinese students, more than 350 well-known enterprises will offer 2,500 vacancies. The enterprises include Tencent, Huawei, Walmart, BYD, Evergrand, TCL and Ping An. The posts cover finance, IT, Internet, culture, education and high-end services.

The fair for soon-to-be graduates, which will also be held Sunday, has attracted 500 enterprises offering 10,000 posts that are mainly in the Internet-based high-tech, finance, biology and new-energy sectors.

In the two days, more than 100 seminars and match-making meetings for technology transfers will be held.

For the first time, the China region final contest of Pitch@Palace, founded by The Duke of York in 2014, will be held in the city to provide a platform to amplify and accelerate the work of entrepreneurs. Pitch@Palace guides, helps and connects entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses with potential supporters, including CEOs, influencers, angel investors, mentors and business partners.

This year’s CIEP will attract 4,000 organizations from 50 countries and regions, and 40,000 government delegates, scholars and high-end professionals.
