A CONCERT of classical music at Shenzhen Concert Hall wrapped up the Third Shenzhen Belt and Road International Music Festival on Sunday evening.

Italian soprano Barbara Frittoli and baritone Roberto Frontali worked with Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra to present a spectacular musical feast for local audience, earning endless applause.

The Shenzhen Belt and Road International Music Festival kicked off March 24. More than 800 musicians in 23 art troupes from more than 40 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, including Russia, Poland, Turkey, Indonesia, Thailand and Brazil, were invited to stage high-quality concerts and music performances for local audiences during the three-week event.

Last year’s music festival hosted more than 700 artists and singers from 40 countries and regions who brought an art feast for Shenzheners.

Twenty-one concerts were staged for residents in the city over the past three weeks. Performances by the Cleveland Orchestra from the United States, Germany’s Freiburger Baroque Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, U.S. jazz musician Wynton Marsalis and Lincoln Center impressed local audiences.

Co-hosted by the city government of Shenzhen and Chinese Musicians’ Association, the festival aimed to gather first-class art troupes from countries and regions along the Belt and Road and showcase the unique characteristics of their music.

Audiences enjoyed diverse types of music, including classical, pop and country, as well as Eastern-style music. More art-related activities, such as lectures, were also held at local universities and public venues.

According to the organizers, four concerts were staged for free for local residents during the festival in order to allow more residents to have a chance to appreciate music. Admission prices as low as 80 yuan (US$11.93) per person were available for all of the concerts and performances of this year’s festival.
