Gambling gang

THE Bao’an District People’s Court recently heard a case involving a cross-border gambling group.

A man surnamed Luo was the Chinese shareholder and agent of a casino in Cambodia, and organized online gambling on a WeChat group. In 2013, Luo met a businessman surnamed Li and asked him to help get customers in Cambodia.

Li was also responsible for arranging accommodations and meals in Cambodia for customers from China, and leading them to the casino. Li was arrested by the police at the Shenzhen airport Aug. 3, 2018.

Li was sentenced to nine months in jail for opening a casino and fined 50,000 yuan (US$7,448). Li said in court that he would not appeal. Luo was also punished in another case.

Drivers fined

TWO dump truck drivers were caught red-handed by police for illegally dumping construction waste in Fuhai Subdistrict. The drivers admitted that the waste was supposed to be transported to a dumping site in Foshan City.

The two drivers were fined 7,800 yuan (US$1,161) and 6,000 yuan, respectively.

Metro Line 6

THE construction of stations on Metro Line 6 has been completed.

The 49.4-km Metro Line 6, from Shenzhen Science Museum to Songgang Station, will provide Bao’an residents a convenient way to travel to Futian District via public transport. It is expected that Metro Line 6 will start service in mid-2020.
