Huawei assured

ITALIAN Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said Friday he had assured China’s Huawei Technologies that it would not face discrimination in the rollout of Italy’s 5G telecoms network.

The prime minister’s comments were carried in Italy by TV broadcaster Sky Italia.

Private rail project

CHINA’S first privately controlled high-speed railway project signed a loan contract for 28.1 billion yuan (US$4.18 billion) Friday, Xinhua reported.

Xinhua said China Development Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China and two others will provide the loan for the project, which is controlled by a consortium led by Fosun International Ltd. and the Zhejiang Provincial Government.

Rocket startup

CHINESE rocket startup LandSpace has signed agreements with U.K. satellite firm OpenCosmos and Italian aerospace company D-Orbit to provide services including satellite launches, the Securities Daily reported Friday.

The total value of the contracts exceeded 100 million yuan (US$15 million), the newspaper said.

Electric vehicle plant

GERMAN automaker Volkswagen AG’s joint venture with China’s Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. (JAC) plans to invest 5.06 billion yuan in a new electric car factory in the eastern city of Hefei, according to local authorities.

A government document posted online showed that Volkswagen and JAC had obtained approval from environmental authorities to build a plant capable of producing 100,000 all-electric battery cars a year.
