Fault line 裂痕
    2019-04-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: I don’t get it why Mary has such tense relations with her mom.

B: There is always a fault line between generations, only that in most families, it’s countered by the love and bond between members.

Note: “Fault line” is a geological term referring to a break in the earth’s surface. The fault line traces what is known as a geological fault underneath. After a huge earthquake, the surface of the earth gaps open. That’s the kind of force with which geological faults unleashes. As a metaphor, the term can refer to any division or rift, as based on philosophical, religious, or ethnic differences, that is perceived as leading inevitably to violent confrontation. For example: There is a fault line between the rich and the poor in many countries.
