Old photos by Marc Riboud on display

Old photos of China taken by French photographer Marc Riboud (1923-2016) are on display at Luohu Art Museum. Entry is free.

In 1957, Riboud was one of the first European photographers to go to China. He has captured the graces of daily life and his photographs have appeared in numerous magazines, including Life and National Geographic. He twice won the Overseas Press Club Award, received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Sony World Photography Awards and has had major retrospective exhibitions in Paris and New York. He traveled mostly in Asia, Africa and the United States.

The 35 exhibited photos were taken from 1957 to 2002. In 1957, he visited Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chongqing and Anshan, as well as their neighboring villages. He visited China again in 1965, 1971 and then almost every year since 1979, capturing China’s rapid changes.
