TICKETS of flights to Southeast Asian countries, as well as Japan and South Korea, for the coming May Day holiday are selling fast, and the number of Chinese tourists taking China Southern Airlines flights to Singapore and Indonesia has overtaken the number of those flying to Thailand, a source from the airline said.

Travelers taking international flights operated by China Southern Airlines out of Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai and Changsha can purchase additional economy-class seats for their own use at reduced prices.

The prices for additional seats on long-haul flights to Europe, America, Australia and the Middle East are 650 yuan (US$97.11) for the first additional seat, 1,200 yuan for the second additional seat and 1,700 yuan for the third seat.

For other international routes exceeding four hours in duration, the prices for additional seats are set at 350 yuan, 650 yuan and 900 yuan, respectively. For international trips with flying times shorter than four hours, the prices are 250 yuan, 450 yuan and 650 yuan, respectively. This customized service can also accommodate oversized passengers, pregnant women and passengers traveling with babies under the age of 2.

For domestic flights, tickets to Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Tengchong are in demand.

Tickets for April 30 and May 1 flights from Shenzhen to Dali and Lijiang are selling fast. The airline expects a surge of travelers to other tourism cities including Sanya, Nanjing, Yangzhou and Hangzhou during the holiday.

China Southern Airlines will operate 7,300 flights carrying 1.4 million passengers during the May Day holiday, sources from the airline’s Shenzhen company said.
