A FOREIGN-LANGUAGE voluntary service team, jointly set up by Shenzhen Translators Association and Shenzhen Polytechnic School of Business Foreign Languages, was officially inaugurated Thursday.

At the inauguration ceremony, Pan Jing, secretary general with Shenzhen Translators Association, said the voluntary team is a platform for the students from the Business Foreign Languages School to show their talent and skills, and that he hoped the team will be a research-type, innovation-type and practical team.

It is said to be the first foreign-language voluntary service team of college students. The result of a six-month discussion and research by Shenzhen Translators Association and Shenzhen Polytechnic School of Business Foreign Languages, the students on the team will develop voluntary services and gain experience for growth by applying the knowledge they have learned at school. Zhang Fengxing, secretary of Shenzhen Polytechnic Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, said the establishment of the team is an extension of the school’s education. It will be helpful for improving the students’ professional education through field practice and cultivating foreign-language professionals to improve the level of the city’s export-oriented economy and promoting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s economic development.
