TELECOM giant Huawei successfully made the first VoNR call in the world including voice and video with its Mate 20x smartphone on a 5G SA network in a trial run with the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group in Beijing, the southcn.com reported. The success of the VoNR call laid a solid foundation for achieving the application of 5G technology on mobile phones, the report said. VoNR is a basic communication solution for 5G SA networks. The call was based on a 5G network developed by IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group. The two phones used in the trial were placed at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and the Yanxihu campus of the China Academy of Science in Huairou, respectively, with a distance of over 60 kilometers between them. Huawei’s 5G core network is the first real integrated network that supports 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G NSA and 5G SA in the world. It also offers Single Voice Core communication solution, the report said.
