Jazz

A U.S. jazz trio consisting of pianist Bert Seager, saxophonist Nathan Reising and bassist James Heazlewood-Dale will present a night of famous jazz pieces. The three musicians have all studied or taught at New England Conservatory.

Seager has been a leading player on the jazz scene in Boston since 1981. His 17 albums have won him unanimous critical acclaim from the New York Times, Chicago Tribune and many other publications. His compositions and improvisations reflect his view of life and music.

Heazlewood-Dale is an active presence in the Boston music scene and is currently studying toward his doctorate in musicology from Brandeis University.

Reising is an award-winning saxophonist, pianist and composer. Primarily influenced by jazz, rock and folk music, his original work possesses qualities of sincerity and openness that allow him to emotionally connect with a wide range of audiences.

Chorus

The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir will give a chorus show. The choir from Denmark is one of Scandinavia’s oldest choral foundations. The high artistic standard which has characterized the choir for 90 years has been achieved by means of the unique vocal training. The choir has gained an international reputation through its interpretation of works by major composers from all periods.

Kit Armstrong

Pianist and composer Kit Armstrong will play Bach’s “Goldberg Variations.”

Half-Chinese and half-British, Armstrong was born in Los Angeles in the United States in 1992. He has always pursued music and academic education in parallel. At the age of 9, he became a full-time undergraduate student at Utah State University studying biology, physics, mathematics as well as music. Armstrong received a bachelor of music degree from the Royal Academy of Music in 2008 and a master’s degree from Pierre-and-Marie-Curie University, Paris, in mathematics in 2012.

Saxophone pieces

Shenzhen saxophone teacher Ning Yijun and his students will perform a concert. No sign-up is necessary.

Symphony

Hebei Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with Shenzhen cellist Nie Jiapeng to present Dvorak’s “Cello Concerto in B Minor.” The orchestra will also play a Chinese symphony piece and Shostakovich’s “Festive Overture.”

Time: 8 p.m., May 25
